An app to learn Hangul properly, then keep going

Hanguljo starts with the Korean alphabet itself: every consonant and vowel with stroke order and native audio, how syllable blocks are built, and the sound rules that make reading click. Then it takes you on to TOPIK 6.

Every letter, with stroke order and sound

The Foundation lessons teach each consonant and vowel with its stroke order and native audio, from the 14 basic consonants and 10 basic vowels to the tense consonants and compound vowels.

From letters to syllable blocks

Reading starts when letters become blocks. Hanguljo shows how each block is built, consonant, vowel and an optional final consonant, and how the same letters change position depending on the vowel. The free Hangul quiz lets you try block reading in the browser.

The sound rules that make reading work

Final consonants (받침) and the way sounds link across blocks are why 한국어 is said han-gu-geo. Hanguljo teaches these rules early, so what you read matches what you hear.

Then straight into real Korean

Once Hangul is in place, 439 lessons take you through TOPIK 1 to 6 vocabulary and grammar, with 1,432 Hanja memory hooks and a seven-stage SRS to keep it all fresh.

A study day with Hanguljo

  2. Practise reading blocks until you can sound out new words.
